Menstrual Cycle Natural Treatment | Irregular & Heavy Periods
Fertility Naturopath Perth: Homeopathy and Naturopathic Treatment of Menstrual Cycle and Period Problems
At this Perth naturopathic clinic we have extensive experience in treating the full range of problems associated with menstruation and the menstrual cycle. Of course, period and hormonal issues underlie many cases of infertility. There are many natural homeopathic and naturopathic treatments to help these problems.
Because we see many women for natural fertility management, this is something we have good success with; and because this is a general practice you don’t have to be a fertility client to seek our help with any menstrual problems.
Homeopathy helps address irregularities of the menstrual cycle and return them to a normal pattern. The average cycle is 28 to 30 days, but where the cycle varies between three to six weeks, the periods are said to be irregular.
Metrorrhagia occurs where the menses are consistently less than four weeks or where there is bleeding at irregular intervals. When the periods consistently arrive at intervals of 21 days or fewer, polymenorrhoea is the term used. Menorrhagia is the term employed to describe abnormally long and heavy, often clotted menses at regular intervals.
Oligomenorrhoea describes the situation where the cycle is extended and periods are late, anywhere between 4 weeks to six months or more. This is often accompanied by anovulation, or lack of ovulation. In itself this is itself often a symptom of polycystic ovarian syndrome, which is dealt with on a separate page. If the periods stop altogether, the term used is amenorrhoea.
Naturopathic principles in conjunction with homeopathy have a spectrum of remedies for each presentation. As always, the treatment used is chosen on all aspects of a woman’s health, as the menstrual cycle not only affects but truly reflects her balance of health on all levels: mental, emotional and physical. The remedy or remedies that help to restore harmony to a woman’s periods will also help with other issues, such as sleeping patterns, energy and mood and whatever else is part of her complete symptom picture.
We find that many menstrual problems are triggered or exacerbated by use of the oral contraceptive pill. This contributes to issues with fertility and other problems related to oestrogen dominance including fibroids and endometriosis.
Not least of the issues relating to menstrual problems and unexplained infertility is our increasing exposure to toxins in the environment, particularly a group of compounds known as xenoestrogens. This includes many plastics, including bisphenol-A (BPA), plastic wraps, the lining of canned foods, detergents, pesticides, sunscreen and the ingredients in many personal care products.
Our advice for infertility and menstrual and period issues at this Perth clinic may include advice on how to avoid these harmful compounds, or how to choose alternative products. There are also naturopathic and homeopathic remedies that help remove these chemicals from the body.
